Ludo Movie Review

“LUDO IS A BLEND OF EMOTIONS AND LAUGHTER”

Nature lean towards balance, so beneficial things can hurt you when you get a lot of them. Drinking more water is acceptable however to an extreme and you'll suffocate. Individuals compare their life to pretty much anything effectively, extraordinarily with regards to a competition or a game. Better believe it, at some point its great however a lot off it, most likely unsafe. In any case, Ludo is a significant extraordinary and reasonable game. It will not toss swinging balls at you and it will not request that you pursue a ball to score an objective. Completely determined by karma, the game shows the fancies of human life, in its sheer randomness.

Anurag Basu's Ludo, a Netflix unique film, is quite like a game with same name. It takes the similarity right down to the last leg. The well known table game gave Anurag Basu a framing device for his second anthology feature after 'Life in a Metro'. In Ludo, four separate stories are set into play by a criminal's move of dice. Ludo investigates the thought how our lives structure a skein of activity and reaction, offer a random act of defining our course.

MOVIE ANALYSIS

Like any game that is worth its salt, Ludo takes a while to warm up as the pieces are placed in front of us, first one after another and then in a confounding criss-crossing heap. All the characters come up with hair-brained schemes to dig themselves out of the hole, but their lives keep intersecting.

Anurag Basu, with a script so magnificently packaged, proves once again why he’s the most underrated director of our time. Basu weaves in romance, drama, thrill, tragedy and whimsy in one film, while keeping it essentially a black comedy. The world is whimsical and absurd, with a sharp joke around every corner, sometimes said by the characters, but mostly aimed at them.

After acknowledging the failure of his gorgeously written, gorgeously filmed and gorgeously acted musical drama, Jagga Jasoos, Basu seems to have learnt his lesson, as the structure of Ludo is written with careful precision and the construct is cleaner. Like any game that is worth its salt, Ludo takes a while to warm up as the pieces are placed in front of us, first one after another and then in a confounding criss-crossing heap. All the characters come up with hair-brained schemes to dig themselves out of the hole, but their lives keep intersecting.

LUDO- DIRECTION AND MUSIC

Along with his signature cinematography & otherworldly music, Anurag Basu adds yet another masterpiece to his filmography. Basu manages to stir emotions at a primal level using colours, a device he has employed in his earlier films as well. With every film, Basu is moving towards the ‘nirvana’ level of filmmaking.

You can’t have anyone but Pritam by your side if you’re planning a film like Ludo. He treats this as a giant canvas and fills it with some experimental colours. Apart from a routine Meri Tum Ho, tracks such as Aabad Barbaad, Hardum Humdum, Life Ke Ludo & Kyun Aise Hua Pyaar come across as a breeze of melodious air.

WHAT IS SO UNIQUE ABOUT IT?

If we are watching a movie on cinema or on an OTT platform then we can expect a single story or we can say two stories in a single movie, But what if i say four different stories are playing in a single movie? And they are linked with each other in a very unique way, and this make Ludo so unique. The director just want to convey a truth, a beautiful message that our life is just like game of ludo and God has the dice(the decision for our life, based on our “Karma”) This message is not new but the way this message is conveyed is so unique.

LUDO- PLUS POINT

Acting performances, writing, music, cinematography, editing – pick anything you want, everything works in making this film a complete package. Anurag Basu’s direction is terrific as once the film hits its straps, there is no stopping it until it romps home.

LUDO- DRAWBACKS

The only drawback related to this film is that we won’t be able to enjoy this rollercoaster ride of emotions in cinema-halls. Sadly! There’s not a single reading to why you shouldn’t watch this movie, but there are 1000 reasons that will only convince you to watch it. In simple words i just love this movie:)
